• UPDATE--Dave Smith Performance Heads for 3.8!!!

i know a guy, who supposedly his name gets around (Dave Smith, or LT1Dave as on msg boards) in the V8 community pretty well. Basically, 383 LT1 580+ NA hp, 10's in the 1/4...anyway...
the guy does pretty good work, i've talked to him some about doing work on V6's. He's pretty good with anything he touches, he's built everything from F bodies to ford supercoupes...so he knows his stuff. He's just now starting to go full time with his business, LT1dave.com . well, anyway...
I thought just maybe, since Dave is just incredible with performance...
who would be interested in headwork from him? his prices from what i understand are EXCELLENT, the price he discussed with a V6 buddy of mine locally were great. It would be a help for his business too. I'm not saying anything against Riggs Racing or SuperSix. I'm just wondering if anyone would be interested in having another sets of heads/cam combo on the market.

this is no freaking joke guys. quite frankly i'm dissapointed no one has responded.
A guy wants to help out the struggling V6 community by doing some work, getting some more options for aftermarket heads...and no one replies.
come on.

What is the cost..

I'm REALLY supportive of Tom's work. The more heads a guy does, the better his work becomes. I'm not talking heads in general, but specific application heads. Tom@Supersix has done quite a few GM 3800 heads.

He also spends the time to R&D new options for us regarding porting techniques, valve sizes and springs.

I'll get with him concerning price and what not. Dave is a good guy who is willing to work with us as well.
I wouldn't be suprised if right off the bat he went with some oversized valves...

You know I'm Interested I've read and read and read on his work. He seems very very good at what he does. I'm probably going with him for COMPLETE engine! Being that he's not far from me makes it a big differance!

I'd be interested if he could just put in oversized valves. dominic and I were discussing oversized valves last night and I'm wondering how much a set of stock heads w/ oversized valves would cost, along w/ a 3 or 5 angle valve job?

i would think the more options you have the better.

and dont forget to tell him to advertise to the gp comunity too.

how much do toms heads pick up. hp wise .
without a cam , just the heads.

he's in cincinnati, ohio.
i got email back from him, he said he'd love to do it. he thinks he can make the heads flow AT LEAST as well. I think he can do better...im sure he does too, but he's a modest guy.
i emailed him about price, and showed him supersix motorsports...so i expect to hear from him soon.

tom has proven himself in my book. most excellent work!! i aint dissing the other guys, but tom has already made a name for himself. remember there are a lot of people can do the same work, but tom has gone far beyond just being able to do the work.
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

do i need to direct anyone to a forum of whom half the people can stand up, vouch for dave, and proudly say he's the only person they'd let touch their car?
well, i will anyway.
www.gcfba.com go ahead and register, and ask about dave. He even had a predicament with a guy, he did some tranny work, told him about some other problems that the tranny had...the guy told him not to worry about it. so dave didn't. well, the guy ended up NOT sellng the car, and cried to dave abut not fixing it...even tho he told dave not to. Dave's upstanding enough to all he is charging him for is parts, no labor costs involved...
i now him personally, he's one hell of a guy.

I would be interested since he is in cincinnati, ohio. Would be nice to be able to drive there instead of shipping to GA. I think having the options of multiple people who can perform similar work would be great!
