y87 Vin reprogram

I am going to put 3.42 gears in my rearend and I want to remove my speedlimiter. Is there any reason that reprogramming my computer to a Y87 vin would cause any engine trouble?

I am putting a 3.8L (from a 96 camaro) in and installing 3.42 gears. I was thinking if I could flash my computer with a Y87 vin, it would fix my gear ratio and if the car didnt have a speedlimiter from the factory it would remove my speedlimiter also.

If anyone that has an auto y87(if that's possible) with no speedlimiter(some didnt have one) it would be very much appreciated if you could get in contact with me.

Well, i'm not sure about the y87 with no speed limiter but if you want to fix your speedo and remove the speed limiter then just buy the jet scu 2000...thats exactly what it is made for.

I have a new unused jet scu 2000 willing to sell. it is a warranty replacement for my old one that did not work. got a gran speedo from grantelli motor sports works better but not sure if it works for speed limiter

Does the jet scu make your speedo stop working at a certain speed?

If this is the case, it prolly wont work for me. I just installed a 150mph speedometer not long ago and would like to see how fast i am going.

As far as the y87 vin, i figured I could kill 2 birds with one stone if someone had a y87 car without a speedlimiter(some ppl seem to have them). It would fix the 3.42 issue and the speedlimiter issue if their car was so equiped(with no speed limiter)
