  • 1.9:1 rockers with comp cam

3800perfomance.com says that the 1.9:1 rockers are made to be used with the stock cam, if I'm planning on buying a performance cam, how will the rockers act with it? theyve never been tested with an aftermarket cam, i'm just wondering if they will compliment one another or not? i've been advised that i could just tell the cam manufaturer that i'm running 1.9:1 rockers, and they could grind that in. any ideas?

Way too much lift - dont run those with anything but the stock cam. Hell, Id be scared to run them with the stock cam!

I like duration, so does Lingenfelter, we think alike :D

what if the cam was a custom one and you told comp or whoever that you'd be running w/ 1.9:1 rockers? Could you run the rockers on the custom cam grinded w/ that in mind?

Work backwards from the total lift number you want.

higher ratio rockers LOWER the rpms where valve flot occurs,if ya have a 5500 redline going from 1.5 to 1.6 rockers drops your redline to about 5200

at least thats something I read in a hotrod mag. I could be wrong

that's true, if you stick w/ stock springs and seats. My friend's car, 2k1 camaro, has been upped to 6500 rpms using the hypertech programmer, and he's still cool as far as valve float goes. he supposedly had it checked for compression and stuff, and his mechanic told him he was fine, as in the cylinders being within 3-4% of each other(has 30,000 miles on it). don't flame me if you guys find this to be wrong, this is only what I've been told.

just to be sure, here's g good tip to prevent valve float "the lighter, the better" This is why people get titanium retainer and/or valvesprings. The 1.9:1 roller rockers are supposedly 30-40% lighter than stock, so that will help fight valve float too. I'd get new springs/retainers w/ the rockers anyway since it's just a good idea to mattch springs w/ lift.
