• oil sending unit help

in case you havent noticed, i have had a thread running for awhile in the Itake/Exhaust forum about putting on my headers...so here's the update:

i got both headers on!!!
but here is one of the problems that needs to be addressed:
on the driver's side i took off part of the oil sending unit and the oil filter to gain access to the bolts. i took off the part that is surrounded in that rubber heat protective boot. when i took it out, there was a small metal clip on the otherpart of the sending unit that held the rubber part on. i cannot for the life of me figure out how that goes back on! if someone has had it pulled apart before i would like to know how you put it back together.

i have no idea what you are trying to explain, if you get me a pic i might be able to help, ive replaced mine 2 times (once i dropped a header on it and broke it in half, the other time it just broke on its own(damn crapozone parts))

there is a metal part(of the oil sending unit) that attaches to the side of the housing that the oil filter threads into.

another part of the oil sending unit then attaches to that metal part. it is covered by a big round pice of black rubber and that is covered in a reflective heat shielding tape. i took the part in the rubber off of the metal part that is attached to the oil filter housing and cannot figure out how to put the part surrounded in rubber back on.

im 99% sure ya toasted it

the rubber heat shiled is supposed to be pulled off the sensor, then you can unhook the connector, it sounds like you pulled the sensor apart to me

they are under 30$ from a parts store

did ya tighten it all the way down? if not ur gonna have a pretty nasty oil leak that will drop right on the Y pipe and create a fair ammount of smoke (i know this from experience 2 times as well )
