hey,
how hard would it be to stuff a ls6 under the hood? I want a ZL1 camaro. IT would be cool to have, would i have to use the Z06 manual trans? or will the 4 speed bolt up? IT would be so kickass to run an LS6. think it would run $9000-12000 to do? I think it would be worth it.

If you're asking about 4th gens, it's as easy as bolting in an LS1. Guys have done it, check out ls1.com or ls1tech.com. You can't use the Vette manual b/c it's a transaxle and mounts in the rear as opposed to our standard transmissions that bolt to the engine.
Ummm.....if you are serious about spending that much $$$ on a project like that, why not sell your car and BUY an LS6? Or for half of that much, you can buy a bike that will tear an LS6 a new one! To awnser your question, I researched putting an LS1 into my car. It was going to be around $6000 for EVERYTHING. The motor and tranny was used with 60,000 miles. My mechanic said it would take him the better part of a week to do it all. GOOD LUCK!
Sounds like a plan but what would probably would be cheaper is to buy a used LS1 and tranny and then just buy the LS6 upgrade package from Pace Performance. It includes everything to turn the LS1 into the LS6. Costs about 1500-2500 depending on what year engine and what heads you want.

cool i never heard of that conversion package, but if i got an ls1 and put that in and got the conversion package it would be identical to an ls6?

A few
You'd probably be better off buying a used LS1 and a different heads and cam package that'd make more power. But if you're looking to do the LS6, more power to ya, you certainly won't be disappointed .

actually quite a few... most of the LS1 blocks in 2002 and some of the blocks in 2001 were actually LS6's

Pretty much everything but the block. LS6 block is slightly different than the LS1. The package is essentially a heads and cam upgrade for the standard LS1.

they just need all the other parts cam, head, etc

Actually, they were the same casting, but I believe the LS6 has something extra with cooling ports and is still different from those "LS6" casting LS1 blocks.
10% in 2001
25% in 2002
Haven't checked mine yet to see if I got lucky or not .

I have made a lot of money in my life, most of which I spent on cars and women.
The rest I have blown.

Yes :D
I'm agreeing with what I wrote .
Seriously though, Vette trans in rear, f-body trans in front. That's what gives the Vette such a nice weight ratio. In fact, they don't technically call the shafts "driveshafts" on the Vette either, they call them "torque tubes". I've seen a Vette up on a lift, definitely an interesting site. The bottom of the car is almost completely flat. Pretty sweet !
I checked my block out and it turns out I have *drum roll*.................. an LS1 block . But I also found out that 2001 and 2002 had better a better cam than the pre-2001 cars did. It also comes stock with the LS6 intake manifold. LS6 is overrated anyways, you can make the LS1 just as fast ;) . I was told by a friend that GM offers a special intake manifold that you can special order from them that bolts right onto the LS1 and adds close to 120 rwhp. It's bright orange in color and from what I was told it's pretty pricey but come on... 120 hp to the rear wheels from one single bolt on. How can you go wrong with that?? :D

I was searching at CZ28.com and it seems to me pre 2001 have a better cam, but not the ls6 intake so it pretty much even's out.
