LS6 is overrated anyways, you can make the LS1 just as fast ;) . I was told by a friend that GM offers a special intake manifold that you can special order from them that bolts right onto the LS1 and adds close to 120 rwhp. It's bright orange in color and from what I was told it's pretty pricey but come on... 120 hp to the rear wheels from one single bolt on. How can you go wrong with that?? :D

120 RWHP from an intake? Maybe if it shot Nitrous in it. I have never heard of an intake bolt on to ever make that much HP. Are you sure it wasn't 12 RWHP?

Anyways, to the original topic, Nothing too special about the LS6 engine that you would want to spend the extra cash and the headache of looking for one. When you can just go with a standard LS1 and if you wanted, get a heads/cam package. That with long tubes and you would be sittin' pretty.

i've heard of that intake too. It's similar to a super ram or mini ram.

Actually pre 2001 have a more aggressive cam.
In 2001, they added the LQ4 truck cam which allowed an increase in low end torque. So it depends on what you're definition of a better cam is, more aggressive up top, or better low end. Doesn't really matter in the end, it's gonna get swapped out probably ;) .

I find it really hard to believe that this intake will give you 120 rwhp (is there a supercharger on the other end of it?). Do you have any links or information on it? I'd be interested in reading up about it and checking it out.

Yup, plus it was cool b/c the cam had more valve overlap allowing the deletion of the stupid EGR. There were a bunch of other things changed/updated too which allowed the hp/tq increase and less oil consumption.

I dont' think the cost is worth it, but whatever. An LS1 w/ LS6 cam will make within 20rwhp of an LS6.

There are several places now that sell an LS6 crate motor with an F bod oil pan- which needs to be different.

There is no benefit of the LS6 block, the only difference is a slight color change and casting mark.

Ummm.....if you are serious about spending that much $$$ on a project like that, why not sell your car and BUY an LS6? Or for half of that much, you can buy a bike that will tear an LS6 a new one! To awnser your question, I researched putting an LS1 into my car. It was going to be around $6000 for EVERYTHING. The motor and tranny was used with 60,000 miles. My mechanic said it would take him the better part of a week to do it all. GOOD LUCK!

I can get all the parts for $4,200 if I pull them, and I have a shop that will install for $500 in 3 days. So it's not quite that bad

The only difference on the block is the bottom of the LS-1 is flat the LS-6 has a house shaped angle upwards into the block

120 rwhp from an intake? I'm not going to say that's impossible, but without also upgrading the heads and cam that's hard for me to believe. Keep in mind that even if your intake flows all the air in the world, it still has to go through the intake and exhaust ports on the heads. If it's true though I'll eat my words.
