r older blocks same as new ones?

what years are you talking about?
They did change the way the lower intake gasket mates up to the block.. the newer blocks have guide pins.. nothign that will really hinder assembly though.. my 97 does not have guide pins..
The guide pins help that little blue gasket that goes across teh block underneath the lower intake.
