  • Good Questions for those who've swapped!

Ok don't lock this one becuase I have searched and the question I have wasn't answered. Anybody who has swapped engines knows that the engine and Computer harness goes into a junction at the firewall or at least that's what a guy at the Chevrolet dealer in town told me. Ok if i got the V8 engine harness when i hook it up can i get by with not tearing the dash apart to rewire it? 'Cause what he said to do is jsut take my stock computer in my V6 and have the dealer change some proms on the Comp. he said the computer itself should be the same. all i have to do is take the Vin # from the Z28 car and put it in the computer and they can reprogram the computer right there. of at least that's the way he explained it. he said the harness going from the firewall to the dash should be the same. Is that right? even if not i can do all of this the hard way but i'm trying to find easier ways of doing it. Also besides the guage cluster in the dash what else would i need to change over? and also would it be really hard to switch to a M6 while i have it out of should i stick with the A4. thanks guys for the help. and please don't lock this. i tried to be specific. I have a lot of info on my web site

you cannot use V6 computer or V6 engine harness.

Depending on what years you go with you will need to do some rewiring.. you do not have to tear the dash apart to do it.

If you get the ENTIRE under hood harness you won't have to rewire anything, but thats for 98+ models, don't know about lower years.
