Lets say I get another chevy motor... lets just pick a z06 engine Now what else would be involved in the engine swap, besides the actual swap. Like the stock pcm would more than likely need to be replaced, right? And probabally some things would need to be rearranged to fit again? And I know I'd need a new radiator. What else am I missing. Does anyone know all the detailed requirments?

fuel lines, speedo recalibration, upgraded suspension, LSD if you don't already(or with the Z06 I'd say go with a 12 bolt rear end or something so you can set yourself up to go faster w/o having to worry about breaking stuff). I feel like there's something else I'm missing too.....1994 Camaro 3.4L M5 R.I.P.
You know what they say- a small engine means big... errr... e/t\'s
www.pbase.com/rrj72/the_accident
replaced with: red 97 A4 vert (my brothers as soon as i find my REAL replacement)
soon to come: 1969 RS/SS
\"All you need are the esentials: scented candles, massage oil, and Berry White write that down.\" -Van Wilder

whats this 12 bolt rear end? the tranny will have to go. Havent decided if I wanna keep it auto or go m5. Its hard to race with a m6. And even harder to spray (IF i ever wanted to). I'd get a shift kit for a z06 tranny, if I got an auto.

There is no Z06 tranny for you to use. That car has a rear mounted trans, so it is not swappable. The 4L60E from an LS1 fbody should mount up though. I believe the bolt pattern is different from LT1 and LS1 trans housings, so keep that in mind. The Z-6 swap is no different than the other v8 swaps that have been asked about. Search and you should find alot of info. The one thing that may be different would be the PCM requirements. I don't know how the LS6 PCM and LS1 PCM compare, but since the LS6 is a vette only motor, you might need to get some custom tuning done on an F-body LS1 PCM for it to operate properly.
The 12 bolt is a stonger rearend setup. Many V8 guys blow up the stock rearends at the drag strip when running sticky tires. The stock one just can't take the abuse. Kinda expensive for the 12 bolt conversion, but when you keep breaking stock rears, that price will add up as well. Plus, if you are looking at an LS6 swap, money really doesn't look to be an issue

heh... i've talked with people who have tore up their rear end at the track. just ask dave johnson off of RKSport about that one..... he destroyed his factory rear end with bolt-ons in his 2000 SS believe it or not. Now why would you want to re-build the same rear-end you just broke when you could pay a little bit more for a tank of a rear end like a Moser 12 bolt or something and not have to worry about it anymore since you want to go faster anyway! It's cheap insurance and you don't have to worry about hard launches at the track after a minor 5-10hp mod.
thank you... radiator is what I was missing. if you have money to dump into an LS6, why not just go for the 383 stroker? An LS6 is nothing more then a more agressive cam and intake manifold on an LS1 from what I've read (feel free to correct me on that). I'd take the LS1 and build an LS6 out of it before I bought a factory LS6 meant for a vette.

I've inquired about V8 engine swaps and I've been told that it is difficult to get a vette V8 in and working. It would be easier and cheaper to stick with a LS1 out of a F-body and put some money into mods instead of the LS6.99\' Black Camaro SS
M6/T-Tops - SLPLid w/K&N | Hurst Billet Plus w/ LSS | EGR Mod
Black 97\' Camaro T-Tops (RIP)
