What is the stock length and Diameter of the pushrods?

What length and Diameter should I get? I am installing SSM heads and they are milled 20 thousandths. I need these quick so please help.

And what brand? Where to buy? and how much?

y would the push rod length change? use your stock ones. the rocker adjustment will make up for the 20 thousands...

I thought pushrod length would change because everything will sit 20 thousandths lower. I would love for it to be that easy to use a stock pushrod. But is it? can anyone else confirm?

You should have no problem using a stock pushrod with a slightly milled head, the pushrod will rest the same height as it did before even though the head will be lower (think... hole [img]smile.gif[/img] )

ANyhoo, what compression are you expecting with it milled 20 thousanths?

the rockers "float" on top of the head and can adjust up and down quite a bit (thread height on the stud) so a lightly milled head should have no problems with stock pushrods.

Tom at SSM said that the milled head will raise CR a little over 9.8. So not too much but some.

Remember now I am installing a comp cam with the heads. So would the cam require different pushrods?

The new comp cam would be fine with stock pushrods. I can't think of any reason you would have to get new ones, so you should be all good.

I dont mean to come off crazy. But Its just my first heads/cam swap, so Im just thinking of things I will need.

So what head gasket do I use GM or Felpro or other? Does anyone make a thinner head gasket? Do I need to change head bolts?

Car gets torn apart this weekend. So I need all the stuff by then. Please help. Thanks.

use felpro gaskets and get new head bolts

Felpro doesn't make a head gasket kit for our cars.. they make one for the GTP though..

Just get the GM head gasket kit.. thats what I got.. you'll also need the front cover gasket.

You also need to use new head bolts and rocker arm bolts!

Also, Tiago, 3.8 rockers don't float.. they are pedastal mount. ;)

pgriffith, what cam are you going with? Manufacturer and Specs please.

I havent selected the cam yet. Im not sure about exactly what specs to pic. I was thinking something like the one off grandprixstore.com:

206°/212° at .050"
Intake Lift .320" (.512" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)
Exhaust Lift .325" (.520" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)
113 Lobe Separation


But Im not so sure about that. Thats the one I was going to buy. Is there a better cam for my application? I am running nitrous, maybe in the long future a supercharger. But for now just nitrous. I dont want it to be too wild where I run into a lot of problems. I need it streetable, yet still aggressive. Is there a better cam out there for me? I would have ordered the cam by now but the heads took so long to get here I decided to wait. But I will be ordering the cam within the next couple days. I will probly get the one from grandprixstore unless you guys can suggest something better.

I called my local autozone. They said they have a Felpro gasket set for my car. Are they smokin crack?

Yes they are... after you recieve it you will notice its not correct upper intake manifold gasket included.

Get the set from the dealer. ;) But order through gmpartsdirect.
