I'm rebuilding my entire engine now and was wondering what type of bolts i should use. It is ok to reuse the old main and rod bolts? I was thinking ARP rod bolts but was unsure if they are necessary. How bout the main's? being 2 bolt mains, should I go for teh ARPs just to be safe? As far as head bolts are concerned, i have a set of new felpro ones but would get arp if necessary. I'm planning on going with some sort of power adder but unsure whether it be N20 or FI. Also, whats a decent head gasket for our cars? Is felpro or the gm parts sufficient? are there any other options? Thanks for all the info...

If you have the motor apart I would just go ahead and put the ARP rod/main bolts. They are not 100% necessary but I know I would sleep better at night with the stronger bolts in my motor.

I mean re-size the rods. It makes the big end of the rod round again. After a lot of miles it will oblong and it can cause rod-clearance problems and possibly spin the bearing pre-maturely. It doenst matter with the stock bearings because they will take shape of the rod as you drive it but when you put new bearings, they wont fit as snug and can possibly cause problems.
ahhh, i got ya.. so i should get a competant machine shop to bore out the bottom end of the rods to an oversize and get different bearing then...

No, they take and grind the cap down to make the hole smaller and hone it out to size so you'll use the same bearings.
