What does the temp sensor in the intake do. I have been led to belive that it advances your timing up to 4º by resisting voltage depending on what the temp of the air is hiting the electrode. If this is true then resisting the voltage with a resistor inplace of the sensor should make the computer think it is a lower temp than it actually is, the more resistance- the lower the temp reading. Now i need to know 3 things. 1 is this actually the function of the intake sensor? 2 what kind of power increase can i get from 4º? 3 why do all these companies that sell the whisper lid feel they have to break it off in our a..... Well you know what i mean, .87¢ worth of molded plastic for $100. I mean it works good and all but man what an over priced mod! Anyhow i would appreciate some feedback from a tec or something so we can really get to the bottom of this.

1. to tell the computer how hot the intake charge is
2. a few hp but im not sure if in v6 firebirds it actually adds any timing with lower intake temps...in most cars that ive seen it just pulls timing unless tuned otherwise meaning if you put in a resistor it just wouldnt pull any...wouldnt actually add any.
