I'm looking at getting the Comp Cams Xtreme Energy Cam 200/206 .496 .480 112. Right now, I have a SLP CAI, and American Thunder 2.5" catback. I plan on getting my heads and intake port and polished, and I'm about to order some pacesetter ceramic-coated headers. What I need to know is how the cam will affect my driveability, b/c my car is my daily driver. The cam seems like a mild cam, but I don't want to sacrifice TOO much driveability for performance. What do you guys think? Also, what kind of hp do you think I would get? Thanks in advance for the help/advice.

Edit-- Also, will any computer tuning be required or is it just "plug and play"?

Good question, that is right along the same lines I am working toward. I would like to hear an answer to this as well.

tuning will be needed to optimize power. driveability shouldn't be messed up too much, but low rpm cruising u may lose a couple MPG cuz of the low lobe separation.

I would say tuning on that cam should be almost not needed at all. With my heavy cam 210/220 .535/.547 113lsa the only thing i am getting custom programed is the idel code off but u wont have that problem and cause my cam is big i am rasing the shift points to 6300 rpms. But thats about it that has to do with the cam. But i love it.

Here is a video of my cam with one of the exshuast pipes cut cause we had just finished installing the cam.

well, as of now, i have 0 mods (well...K&N Filter and B&M ShirtPlus). Buying the Comp Cam Naturallu Assiprated, Daily Driver XTreme Emergy Cam and what is mandatory needed for it(springs). Then new exhaust (thinking BB TriFlow).

Well, What gains RWHP and RWTQ should i be expecting (knowing that I have 3.08 gears, and dont plan on upgrading to higher rear gears?) and a 1/4 mile drop. well, all gains estimate claims Gains with the Cam only for now.

Also, How would my milage be affected?

And would the idle be running like crazy?

                Thanxz

With a 200/206 cam I don't think you would even be able to tell you changed cams as far as streetability goes.

Well, what is the strongest cam, far as durability, driveability, performance and increase mileage. I need to pass emmisions, and im going to be driving consistently to college and all, my daily driver. I want a really nice choppy idle, so that my BB TriFlow will sound awsome as well when i get a electronic cutout.

What cam and specs do you guys recommend? a Nice sounding Cam passing emmisions with improved mileage?

I think the GT Cam is your best bet.

About the GT cam, good daily driver, better mileage, and u guys think by the specs, it would give out a noticiable choppy idle?

                        210°/210° at .050"
Intake Lift .317" (.507" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)
Exhaust Lift .317" (.507" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)
                        112 Lobe Separation

Will this give a very choppy idle with BB TriFlow exhaust? and as far as "Look for gains of 20-30 HP depending on your car's current configuration." what configuration is being spoken of?

they mean 20 hp if it's stock, and even more if it's modified w/ intake, exhaust, ect. The GT cam was desktop dyno'd to make the same power numbers as the VS cam. personally, I'd go w/ the best of both the GT and VS cams. max lift of the 2, max duration of the 2, and max lobe separation of the 2. stick w/ the VS's intake centerline if you stick w/ the 115 lobe separation. This is just what I think would run good.

i got the VS cam in my car right now and it blows N/A. i don't care what yuo people say.. i have the cam in my car.. this cam is designed for forced induction..

i'm learing the hardway, that's why it's coming out this weeekend..

i'm thinking i only gain like 10rwhp with this cam N/A.

now on the bottle, that is a different story..

I agree with Mike on that I think the VS cam would not be good N/A Just by looking at its specs. I am a big fan of the GT cam for N/A I have one sitting at home I will post some results once it gets installed!
