Hey guys! I'm gettin comps GT cam, 90lb springs and other valve train componeents from ZZP. I was told that if i port or mill my haeds not sure which it was. Cuz im not too familiar with wut each aer, but i was told in doing so it would raise my compression form 9.6.1 to a higher compression thus increasing power. Somone please elaborate with me wut each milling and porting relly is and if it will benefit my car in incrasing power/tq. Also will this work well withe the GT cam setup. Please help me out here guys thanx a lot!

milling your heads is the process by which the bottom of the head (the side that mates to the head gasket) is machined down so as to provide a totally smooth surface for the head gasket to seal to. Since you are removing material from the bottom of the head, you will also be shrinking the combustion chambers some, thus increasing your compression ratio. Increasing compression ratio increases the efficiency of the engine, thus giving you more hp and tq. Porting the heads is the process through which the runners going into and out of the head (behind the valves) are enlarged and made to (hopefully) flow more air into the cylinders. with the increase in airflow, one can burn more fuel and thus increase hp and tq as well. Sounds like you were told to mill your heads, though if you can find someone to port them as well while they are out, it couldnt hurt any. hope that clears things up a bit...

buddy, i just put a gt comp cam in my car and like the same set up but i also port and polished my heads. the power that i have now with out using nitrous is great. i can keep up with my boyfriends mustang gt. it is worth the time and money. and if you thinking about doing it at all i would do it now while your block is apart so that you don't have to take it apart again. DO IT DO IT DO IT. you will feel so much more power!rock on

Yes, it seems tat i was told to mill the heads. So it will be milling taht will be 2,000ths of an inch. I may also port my heads as well. As for doing it right now it wont be for a least another month cuz my buddy and I dont have the time to take the engine out and tear it down. It will happen soon enough and I cnat wait. I can already beat GT and 5.0 tangs so after cam and head mods i should be able to pass them pretty quickly. Thanx for clearing up the differences guys. Much appreciated!

No need to remove the engine to do the heads.

well i got my car almost 2 weeks ago. i went from being a slug running a 75 shot of n/x still getting my butt handed to me from a mustang gt. to keeping up with it n/a. the other night i raced a z28 with mods. i sprayed a 75 shot and totally killed him by at least 2 car lengths. much of my difference came from the hp tuner freeing stuff up and making everything work together. haven been to the track yet this year. but i'm going tomorrow. so i will let you know the difference. it's ashame that you live like 6 hours away my hp tuner will work with your car=(. but nope no problems(yet) hehe later, rock on

Good vid...but how in the hell? My buddies 2002 GT Auto KILLS me, especially from an interstate roll on. I have similar mods to you.

Do you have 3.42 gears? If so, damn I really do need to save my money and get mine installed. It just costs a ton of money (incl. a new PCM tune).

yea i got 3.42s with LSD, plus the newer wider tires and the LCA's really all work together to get that good jump off the line, but then my dying trans and our heavy cars dont help high mph. I mean ****, i raced a vette and was next to him the whole time thru 1st gear, then once he hit second he was gone. Dont have that vid hosted tho, should see if i could.
