  • How far can I go, what can I do for streetable power?...

I have 3.42's on an A4 and I was wondering about how much power can I get out of my car while keeping it streetable and not changing to a larger POSI because I don't want 3.73's or 4.10's because gas will kill me.

I am willing to do stuff like...

New Cam, Heads, Rebiuld / stroke / or bore out the bottom end, Tune, and maybe even Turbo...

The deal is, I really don't want to run on anything higher than 89 octane...

So how would a Mild Cam, Ported Heads, S/C or Turbo / 4.3 Stroker Kit do? How much power and what kind of gas will I need?

Power and low octane don't mix.

I was just wondering because I've seen V8's out there running 600 HP on 87... reason being though is because they have low Compression Ration, like 9:1... Thats why I was wondering if I could do somewhat a simular effect to the V6... If I did decide to biuld my car for the 3.42's, a mild cam, heads, maybe a stroker, maybe a turbo... what kind of power would I be pushing and what kind of gas milage would I get?

I'm trying to compare and contrasts on costs if I should keep the V6 closer to stock or mildly modded with a mild cam and heads and have a V8 as my gas guzzler or what...

A 4.3l stroker kit doesn't exist... and the only stroker kit out at the moment is from zzp can't handle boost or nitrous... porting, stroking, heads, nitrous, ....ect... cars gonna burn more and more fuel... and I wouldn't run 87 octane in my lawn mower~it's def. not the way 2 go in any type of performance application soOo no fuel=no power 4 tha most part... I don't think anything like that's gonna work.

Um...your web page says you have quite a bit more.

My vote is for turbo, kinda cheap when you conisder what it is when it's broken down to

                    $$$ / horsepower gain

Of coarse you'd need to run higher octane, though. That goes for just about any forced induction setup.

Gears will probably kill your mileage much LESS than the other listed mods, and they are much more streetable.

                        Just a thought.

if you are considering any type of induction mod ie...turbo or supercharger, you will need to run 93 oct. or you will likely detonate like crazy. higher compression= need for more octaine

Well I was hoping to keep it N/A and run at the most 89 Octane because I feel if I'm ganna go 93 I may aswell go and get a V8 but thats just me.

What kind of mods would I need to run a turbo?

Dont necessarily need a heck of a lot of more modifications to run a turbo. Prob a new fuel pump and injectors to keep from knocking. You can add more to run more boost but those are pretty much the essentials given your turbo is a package thing and not just the turbo.
