You guys worry about octane way too much. I have said it once and ill say it again ... If your too cheap to spend a little money on gas then you dont need to be driving a performance vehicle. In this case i suggest you sell your sports/muscle car and go with a motor cycle. Its faster and uses less gas.

.10 cents a gallon come on. like was said if you wont pay the little extra for better fuel dont have a performance vehichle. more power=more break.

        They're right about gas...

But you don't have to worry about that if you keep low compression.

Just don't do anything that will raise compression and you should be fine on 87 octane.

And uhhhh... It's a V6... Do as much as you can... They're ALWAYS streetable... lol :D

don't worry about gas man come on! if you want to save on gas leave your car stock or get a honda. just be easy on the pedal and hard when you need to that's it.

Our compression on the 3.8 is 9.4:1 to begin with. That means you need 90+ octane to be ping/knock free.

Might want to try reading your owner's manual.

Right the owners manual says 87 or 89 is fine because it has a computer to adjust timing and what not which degrades performance and gas milage. Remember the manufacturers first priority is to make the engine last as long as possable. 93 octane will more than likely give the car better performance and improve gas milage but if it makes the engine run a bit hotter then they wont recommend it to improve overall engine longevity. Youll do better selling engines that last 30% longer than the same one with 5 more horse power. There is you precious Owners Manual explanation.
