• What would it take to convert to a 2k-2k2 ECM?

I want to convert to a 2k-2k2 computer. I want a hypertech so bad and I have spoke with Hypertech and they tell me nothing is in the works for the '98 Cars. I was thinking I might be able to convert the computer to the 2k-2k2. I know I would have to change out the throttle body with MAF sensor and maybe Wiring Harness. Anything else? I dont want to do this if its too difficult but I really dont think it sounds that hard. Any thoughts?

a ton.

98 is cable driven. 00-02 is electronic control.

Would be quite a bit of custom work with the pedal, TB/Intake, wiring harness.

Hmm just a thought. All I want is to remove the speed limiter and rev limiter and then get some different gears. I guess this is not the way. What else can I do?

HAHAHA!!! Thats funny. Nobody can do that for me. I contacted everyone for this and nobody will do it. I hate it how all the people, Superchips, Diablochip, Hypertech, Jet, they all Neglect the V6. They all tell me if I had a Z28 they could but not for my V6. I hate this so bad. My faith is now all in you Magnus. I hope you come up with something.

Well, you could always strip your mods, buy a 2000-2002 Model V6 and sell your current car? Extreme I know but, for anything after 99 you're out of luck getting a new PCM.

I got the hypertech primarily for the 160 stat, but I love all the other features It rules.

Black, you have a 99. You could have your PCM reprogrammed with a 2K VIN, as I did.
98's are out of luck, though.

everytime i read this i laugh all for a damn thermostat.. thats rediculous. if you were that worried about the temp in your car you would just get a better radiator and a fan switch..i gaurentee that would keep your car cooler than it is with 160.

but the hypertech is a good mod i guess..something to play around with when bored.. heres something to ponder

the power settings work like this: It adds timing and/or leans it out. Most likely a little of both. But let's say you're running lean from the start, what then? You go too lean and go slower AND you have to back off timing since you're running leaner now, to avoid KR. But it probabably also adds timing on top of running leaner so that could really suck. Major KR. One power setting, YIPPEE! I don't think anyone on the planet runs their power tuning.

wouldnt it be better to get a programmer rather than having the pcm programmed itself? the reason i say this is because i heard that with nitrous you want to retard timing and n/a you want to advance timing the only way i could think of how to do this with your pcm programmed would be get it programmed for the retard of the timing and then when you run n/a just use a maft+ to advance it, would this be how you would have to do it? would this work?

They make something called a "flip chip" for Mustangs that advances timing n/a and automatically retards it when you hit the nitrous.
Naturally, it's not available for our cars.

I like my 160 stat, I like cool heads, and I don't care what you say.

KR = not an issue.

Powertuning = I notice a fairly subtantial difference for now. In the future if I dont want it, I can take it off.

btw, Kiss My A$$.
