If it is indeed slower than before, you likely messed something up on the install, ie: didn't line it up dot-to-dot, etc. Secondly, who gives a rat's behind what a Gtech says, really? Those things are wrthless, baselines or not. Go to the track, get on a dyno, or just use the SOTP dyno. But don't go off what a Gtech says. If you weren't on the same road, heading the same direction, starting at the same place, those things will always be inaccurate at best, and even then they suck.

Moral of the story: check into the rest of the story before persuading someone agasist the cam or intake...there's probably something else going on.

Nope didn't botch the install (a monkey and a drunken prostitute could line up the timing marks on the gears). As for baselines, I always use the exact same road. As for SOTP dyno, it's damn sure slower, there is no torque. I used to be able to lay about 20ft of rubber if I just gunned it, now it just rolls along, no tire spin AT ALL. It does have more top end, but not enough to warrant the loss of torque. I'll be spraying this thing by wednesday I imagine (waiting on ONE line to come in). It really gets me that it doesn't pull harder. I have Longtube hedders and dumps, 3.42 gears and various other things, but it doesn't add up... If a stock 3.4 intake would fit on my motor without cutting it for the distributor, I'd try that, but it won't work... :( . Oh well, tommorow is another day.

Looks like a job for the mutant LS1/2.8 TB.
I think you need more valve lift to help your low end torque. With that cam you went up in duration but not realy any more lift, yea you added about .040'' more than stock. Duration makes up your high end and lift gives you low end.
Stock cam = short duration with plenty of lift puts every bit of your power on the low end.
I think that cam keeps your torque out put about the same but moves it all up a few notches on the RPM scale. If your heads arn't matched to your new power band, forget that I think it(the cam) just moved your power band where you are haveing a hard time useing it/your not use to it yet.
Give it some time + some 1.6 rockers and see what happens.
I here people that put higher raito rockers on there stock cars and love them, ther usaly like " .... ..........!". There they are adding more lift but no duration and it's all goood.
Between here and thirdgen.org I got you well covered. That's why I might type some things twice.
If your car dosen't want to turn over fast, try an newer more lively car battery.
Think of the baja races, there driving around near the top of what ever gear they like, not to much launching and burning out with those guys.
Have you tryied it out on the inter state yet?
Try puting it in 3rd gear around 3500 rpm's and mashing the gas and see if it has more git up and go. I think that might be where the power is hiding. Try to find it before you give up.

Oh, the power is there, but without a 5 spd, it is hard to access it. It does pull harder on the innerstate though. I havn't really givin up on it, I just got discouraged. You and Vsixtoy and Doward made me feel a bit better about it. What cam are you using right now Oilpan? I think I might go with the 1.6 rockers, assuming I can find the right ones (got a part number?). I miss the low end torque, I could beat most v8 cars off the line, now I imagine a Honda would give me a run for my money off the line.

I don't have the part #'s for the crane 1.6 crane gold roller rockers. There $269
You need the rockers and there bolts, that are sold sepertly.
I had the crane 272 cam it has 216*/228* dur and .454''/.480'' lift with 1.6 rockers it's .480''/.511''
I will get another one here soon in the next few weeks.
I need to finish butchering my heads so they can use and flow with the .511'' lift .
If I don't need the money else ware I'll get some crane gold rockers too, must have them.

Problem solved. It was a timing issue (which makes no sense really, the car idled great and didn't backfire or ping under load). Factory timing of 10 degrees was too retarded it appears. Car now pulls hard till redline, and the torque I love is there once more (peak is flat and goes from about 2500-4700). Now I can go kick some ***! Thanks for your help people!!!
