  • Car misfiring, sputtering, and running rough!!

well, my car was running like a real brute until one day it started sputtering, and missing while cruising @ 45. i threw some fuel innjector cleaner in it, but nothing happened. the problem got worse, and i replaced the wires and plugs, bosch wires, and delco plugs, and problem got better a little. i recently put used accells,(3,000 miles old) on my car about 2 months ago. MY QUESTION IS THAT I HAVE HEARD THAT ACCELLS GO BAD FROM THE HEAT AND CAUSE MISFIRES, BUT IF THEY TEST 7-8 OHMS CAN THEY STILL BE BAD AND CAUSING MISFIRES? THIS IS THE ONLY THING I SEE THAT I CHANGED, OTHERWISE I FEAR A BLOWN HEAD GASKET,BUT NOT SURE WHY? PLEASE HELP ASAP

I know it's a odd question but are you're wires crossed? How are you're ignition coils?

a continuance check will not reveal a problem in your coil. that circuit only breaks down after a load is applied.

        nobody here likes the accels.

and, for the one billionth time... look to your ICM if the problem isn't fixed once and for all. do you have an SES light?

found it!!!!! Although i was embarrasd to post, ANSWER- upon completeing my last oil change, my father who was giving me a hand put 5 quarts of oil instead of the 4.3 qts that the Haynes manual suggests, and the engine was choking. now there is no more purple smoke upon start, ( which scared me into thinking possible head gasket) thanks everyone for their help.
