Well if the put in some Manley rods, Ross pistons with a .020 overbore, all new ARP fasteners, a custom forged crank, bearings and all the such in a fully balanced block, then you got a helluva deal. If they pulled a used 3800 and cleaned it up for you a bit then you got shafted. Im inclined to beleive the latter.

i dont want it for racing if i did i would just buy a trans am but that price was for everything new. Cam, Pistons, Rods, BEarings Oil Pan and Gaskets and a 20,000 mile warranty

first of all for 400$ more i get basically a new engine that i can trust instead of a high mileaged junk yard motor with no warranty tell me how you were right cause i dont see 400$ more in the long run is better than having to pull the engine again

              2nd
tell me how i dont under stand ive looked at it every way maybe if i had a 3.4 id be getting ripped but 3.8 is more expensive if you go to gm parts for less you can barely get piston and rods for 900$ plus a cam another 250 plus bearings and gaskets oil pan i see it as the machine shop getting ripped let me know what yall think

as stated above for 900 buck in pistons and rods can get you forged pistons and rods BETTER THEN GM's

you are getting ripped if they quoted you that for parts

Actually Drone.. It would be $600 for forged pistons new, $227 for L32 rods or $500+ for Manley rods.. $300+ for a cam another $650+ for upgraded rockers and the rest of the valve train. Not to mention gaskets and labor it would probably run well over $3K total. He got a good deal on a rebuilt stock shortblock leave him alone.

ummm could he not just get after market foreged everything for 827 bucks and get his stock cam. Install is gonna cost the same thing so that does not matter he could even get a gt cam and make more power.

it would cost him 920 for 6 stock pistons, 6 stock rods, and a stock cam

When it cost 1127 for 6 forged pistons, 6 forged rods and a bigger cam. how is the couple bucks more not worth the so much more potenial the engin has. besides it being faster and made with better parts.

The labor is gonna be the same either way, and so is the gaskets and everything else. Hell he could just get the forged stuff stock cam and save 120 bucks but to me its not worth it. DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.
