No, he already said he's not having it rebuilt as a hard core racer, if he wanted that he'd go out and buy a T/A.

Maybe he just didn't want to roll the dice on a junkyard engine. I think that junkyard engines are a good resource, I got one myself. But it is taking a chance, and maybe he didn't feel good about taking it. So it appears that , you Drone are the one who's being stupid.

just by using forged parts does not make it a race car, hes gonna pay the same for stock parts as forged. Atleast if he went forged he would have the ability in the end to make more power if he wanted to. forged parts period are stronger, will last longer even if its not a race car.

its cheaper to build bridges out of wood, but would they last as long?

if it did cost him 1K extra it would not be worth it but its costing like a 100 bucks extra for better parts how is that not worth it. Remeber your stock engin took a crap on you.

go to gm parts direct and look up the price for 6 rods and pistons and stock cam. it comes out to 920 bucks or so

he could get forged everything and a gt cam for like an extra 100 bucks. How is it not worth it.

Depends on if he has the extra money to do that.. because he'd be spending as much on parts as he is now on the entire shortblock. Never the less it appears he already has it done, so it's really pointless to argue it after the fact.

Ok this has gone on far enough. He isn't just getting those 3 parts. He is getting a completely rebuilt short block for $900. Your talking about the cost of those 3 parts being $900 stock. He is getting a good deal so shut the hell up already. Your being incredibly ignorant and not even paying attention to what the starter of this thread is actually getting. Your just trying to prove your own asinine point. Your 3 parts for $900 vs his brand new engine for $900. DO THE MATH YOU IGNORANT BASTAGE!

he is not getting BRAND NEW parts then if its only costing 900 bucks

go to GMPARTSDIRECT.com (they are the cheapest stock parts) and the price for a stock cam, stock rods, stock piston is 920 bucks.

If it is actually everything new thats a good deal. Since you don't actually have a clue whats going on beyond the facts he gives you Drone. Shut the hell up already.

Edit: Btw rock thank you for revising your first post. Much easier to read.

yea it would be a good deal IF THEY WERE NEW because the company building his motor would be losing money.

Hell even if its remachined its a good deal. However once again since you don't know what his machine shop is actually doing.. put your foot in your mouth and be quiet. I'd pay the extra $400 just for the added warranty over a junkyard motor.

damn thanks for everyone supporting me i didnt want anyone to get pissed off by what i asked just wanted to check around to see if it was a good price. The total 970$ is with New part just a used block which he is going to either bore or hone for free. My oringal block spun a cam bearings and made the bearings hole into an egg shape so therefore a bearing would never be able to put in. So hes is going to do the entire lower end and that is everything u can think of NEW, gasket, bearings, cam, piston, rods, timing chain and he also doing a 3 angle vavle job for me for 200$ i think that pretty good cause ive searched and ive seen people pay all the way up to 500$. And after he gets the short block done he said he put the heads on with new bolts and torque down all the bolts so basically ill have a whole new lower end motor with basically new heads and the same intake pretty damn good if you ask me

therock, first off, i'm not tryin to flame on you at all...just stating facts. You pose a question in a message forum and then you get all bent out of shape when someone tells you it wasn't a good deal. What's up with that? If you were going to defend your opinion of it being a good deal, why would you even post your question? My $.02
