• Valvetrain Upgrade

Okay my camshaft just came in yesterday (comp 4x4), and i've been searching for parts to replace my valvetrain.

http://www.3800performance.com/index.html
they have all the stuff i want, but when i did a search someone posted their install kit will not work for rear wheel gm cars like the camaro, has anyone had problems with them not fitting?

So far i'm set on purchasing:
ValveSprings #130
ValveSpringRetainers *Steel* (titanium is for higher rpm?)
High-tech Pushrods
Install kit

The lifters are quite expensive, if i'm replacing all my other parts should i just buy them, or will i not notice an increase over stock ones?

Or if anyone knows a sponser that has valvetrain upgrades for V6's leeme know, i'd rather support them

i tried searching on tbyrne but nothing for v6, and i couldn't find ones in the ls1 section that resembled the stats from http://www.3800performance.com/index.html

and same with thunder racing, lots of options for the ls1 and i don't know which will fit my v6

We can get you anything you'll need. LS6 valve springs hold up to .550" lift and are usually available the same day you order. Pushrods: We can get you Comp hardened Chromoly or Manley. We also have all the bolts and gaskets you'll need while doing the swap. Shoot me an e-mail for exact pricing or with any questions you might have.

I hope not...I just ordered one last week. It'll be here any day. The gaskets and stuff should have the part numbers, so I'll let you know if they're the right ones or not.

Well you have to get new lifters, unless you have roller lifters.
how much are you springs and retainers going to cost?
You might not have to replace your retainers, are your gitting stock replacements?
What are you doing for valve locks.
I'm guessing that your springs are 1.25''
Becare full of valve train kits some of them are a rip off because they know most people don't know how to put together ther own valve train so they offer you a rip off.

thanks viper, i wasn't sure if the kit would work or not.

And in the For Sale section: N20 Cam, he is also selling springs and retainers;
I have 16 2002 LS6 valve springs forsale 50.00..These are 100.00 from intense-racing
I have 16 titanium retainers forsale 20.00
I have a brand new stock timing chain forsale 25.00

If i can get those, then i could afford new lifters from tsp what does 7.40 / 7.35 push rods mean and does the brand matter? i looked at tsp's site and noticed they had several types

edit* Oilpan4, i've never seen a valve lock product in the valvetrain section show me, i want to have everything i need, i don't want stock replacements i want upgraded valvetrain.

I have Ti LS1 1.25'' straight wall spring convert retainers (got them from ebay for $42 shiping and all) for my V6 and they take the same kind of locks.
I was going to use the best non-titanium locks I have found and they are Crane forged 7 degree locks for 11/32'' valves. $32 from summitracing.com.
You can get +.050'' installed high locks so you can use the full installed hight of the valve springs and run the most lift with you can with your valve springs.
I don't know what size valves the 3.8 has, the LS1 has 8mm (all most the same as 5/16'')valves. I bet the 3.8 has eather 8mm or 11/32'' valves.
Stock stamped = crap , I wouldn't put them on a lawn mower.
You will need new lifters for your cam.
