first is there any way to remove the valve cover from my 95 3.4 with out removeing the intake
next could the ticking noise be a bad valve spring or lifter this noise is a result of a nitrous backfire

I know on the 2.8/3.1 engines the only way to remove the covers was to remove the upper plenum and runners. :(

not that hard, but thats in a thirdgen. Best way to remotely (keyword remotely) isolate the lifter is to get a long screw driver, stick it on the cover and put the other end on your ear and listen over each cylinder and listen for that clack.

If its more of a tick, check for an exhaust leak first.

yes you must take off the intake, they sit on top of tthe cam in the lifter valley, which coincidentaly is under the intake manifold(both of them)
