I am not sure what the stock crank will hold, but what are you planning on doing to the engine that would make you ask?

from what I can figure, i am making 250-255 hp and maybe 260-270ft.lbs at the crank with my cam and driveshaft injectors and all the rest of my mods. I have a nitrous cam and that is what im planning to do next. will a 100 shot with 3.73 gears be too much???

well over here in auz we have the same 3.8litre v6s in rear wheel drive gm holdens and have had one just make 500 rear wheel hp @20psi. and this still runs stock crank/internals. how much hp do u think a preped crank could run? eg-nitrided and polished? also how many steel cranks are there out there for the 3.8s and some web sites would be help full.

prove it the only 3800 i have seen over 500 to the wheels is INTENSE's turbo car and that's a fully biult motor, i don't think the stock motor could do 500 HP with stock cam/injectors an NO tunning

I think with the stock bottom end internals it MAY be possible to get 500 hp, but you are really pushing the limits of the piston assemblies with that kind of psi and hp. As for the crank, I have heard very few people breaking a crank that has been taken well care of and had lots of hp turning it. I don't think anyone makes any other aftermarket crank that I know of, at least one that is going to work better than stock.

If you are wanting to strengthen the crank, I suggest cryo-treating. Be pretty difficult to break one after treatment.

He said stock internals, which really only means the rotating assembly, I bet you could do it with the cam too with 20 psig. It really isn't a matter of the crank, the rods usually quit first. Even the old 350 cranks of years and years ago could easily handle over 500 for a few bursts, but how often are you really making/using that 500 HP? If you are going to be dragging all the time, it is time to look at better parts.

Stock internals means you don't crack open the engine and replace ANYTHING that moves.
500hp+ on stock internals =
20psi on 9.5compression with no internal support =

You won't have to worry about your crank breaking. ZZPs ghetto lightened 4.1 crank could take 375rwhp and its just a hack to pieces stock crank lol. Since yours in stronger my GUESS would be upwards of 450rwhp may make it break.

well.. you need to also consider that he is talking about a gtp crank.. not a ****ty offset ground crank..

500 hp is "feasable" but.. not for all that long..

Timmy isn't but AllTheGoodNamesAreGone was probably talking about aussie boy.

Either way to answer the question Timmy your crank will handle that amount of power without a problem. If a butchered stock crank can handle 375rwhp I'm sure your unbutchered stock crank can handle 350hp.
