  • Mini-AFC is ready

I emailed Zoomer today and his mini-AFC is ready for $100 + $5 shipping. I've been waiting for this for a while but I'm concerned that it only adjusts for the whole band without a separate WOT and base setting.

The MAFT+ costs too much and I'm doing the resistor mod to up my timing.

So is this worth the $105.

Here is a link to the disscussion on ClubGP

    Please help me out guys

Look at it more as a calibrator rather than a tuning device. I have found that if you have a MAF setup that is really off, then you will run rich at higher RPMs since the sensor output is not linear.

I have been running this gadget for a few months and it works pretty well with my LS1 TB and custom MAF housing. One of my preliminary designs was a 4" pipe. I had to boost the output by 28%, which is more than the MAFT can do. I found that I ran lean at idle(Ltrims were around +8), and ran rich on top(Ltrims around -14) and had higher than stock O2's. It is better than the MAFT as a "calibrator" since it has 1% adjustments. 1% difference in MAF frequency is around 5% in the Ltrim.

I would see it being usefull for someone that wanted to port their TB, and using it to dial it back into a normal range, while getting more flow out of the TB.

I wouldn't recommend someone throwing this on their car if they have the stock MAF and TB because you probably wouldn't see any more power, unless your stock calibration is off or something.

I may take some pics soon.

Im a little confused as to how this would work on our cars? My friend had one in his Integra and it worked well, but that was a DOHC engine, what would this do on our motors? Also, what other mods would I need to have to really have to take advantage of the mini-afc? BTW: I drive a 2002 Camaro 3800.
      Thanks

The mini-AFC is basically a MAF translator very similar to the MAFT or MAFT+ put out by Ramchargers. You can tune your air/fuel ratios with it at different settings.

With the mini-AFC you can only adjust the whole band and not the base or WOT individually like with an MAFT or MAFT+. The plus means that you can also adjust timing.

If you are running a N/A car, you can benefit by leaning out the fuel a little bit.

With a blower or nitrous, you may need to richen it to gain.

I am trying to figure out whether I should get the mini-AFC or the MAFT.

The Mini-AFC is more acurate (1% increments) while the MAFT(5% increments I believe) has 2 settings.

        Does this help?

How is it basically a maft+ when the maft+ allows for timing changes and so much more, i agree with dee this mini afc isnt a great tuning device its more of a calibrator

So it doesn't have seperate settings for base and WOT. So this means that my base and WOT have to be off by the same amount in the same direction or else this thing is pretty useless. For example, I'm lean during normal driving and I'm rich during WOT. What can it do for me then? Nothing. Don't waste your money. Get the MAFT or MAFT+.

Would it be possible to use both in conjunction for more fine tune calibration? as in the maft+ is probably better for tuning but the mini allows more precise calibration correct?

I believe that both in conjuction would work very nicely, but that would cost quite a bit.

Imo it would be pointless to use both, ask zooomer as a matter of fact zooomer has something that will work far better than the maft+ its called an iccu in car control unit, just ask him he says its better than maft+
