Well, I called my mechanic today and told him to go ahead with the remanufactured 3800 swap. He gave me the $3000 esimate after parts and labor. I found a rebuilt 350 for a 96 camaro for 1500 plus a 500 core deposit, so there's 2 grand right there unless they would take a 3800 core. Plus, another 500 for the computer for it, and I was told I'd need a new bell housing and suspension to support the extra weight, and I think also a different radiator? I don't know, plus the shipping on the engine since it wasn't near here. And all the extra labor, it would probably be double what I'm gonna pay for the replacement 3.8 so I'm just gonna have to wait a few years for that v8 swap. I'm already scared I'm gonna put this engine in and then go and drop the tranny out of it or something. Plus I need two new tires, and want to eventually get a system in it. I miss my system I had in my truck like crazy. And I have so much other crap I gotta pay for right now, and I'm really trying to work towards an engagement ring. Plus, my dad says I need to drop 600 on a new racing helmet because our other is super old, and I think we're moving up from mini-sprints to midgets or wingless 410 sprints in the next year or two. So I don't know, just can't deal with anymore expenses than neccessary right now. It's sad, but that's life sometimes.

You might want to consider running it in D a little more instead of dictating your shift points.

Yeah, I guess I probably should leave it in D, but it's terrible when I'm in traffic and it's already in 3rd or 4th or w/e and wants to bog through lower RPM's. And I almost think that it had to do with a bad spark that Advanced Auto Parts had told me about that I hadn't gotten around to fixing yet, but still, it was pretty poor. I think, down the road, if I ever get the chance to drop in an LT1, I'll do a tranny conversion too, and go to a manual. I drive to hard to need a freakin' automatic transmission. It was just hard to find a 3.8 with a manny in it. Of course, if I woulda known I was gonna drop 3 grand on this one for a new engine, I might as well have bought a wore out 3.8 with a manual and just paid to have it overhauled...lol. And now the dealer is being a dick and decided he doesn't want to help us out anymore, long story. I don't know. I think I'm just gonna borrow some extra money and get my transmission serviced too.
