I have heard of people swapping Gen 3 Intake Manifolds and Aluminum heads onto 3.4L RWD motors and everything bolts up fine, but how come some people are saying that the regular 3.4L pistons cannot be used because of a very high compression ratio? I have heard that 3400 pistons will have to be used because of the aluminum heads otherwise you wil get a C/R of like 14:1 or something....Someone care to fill me in?

Yup, apparantly the smaller combustion chambers on the aluminum heads increase the compression ratio, and require swapping the pistons to compensate for this.

Thanks, I didn't know that about the Aluminum heads...maybe the Gen 3 heads could be opened up/ported some to lower compression and drop the C/R of the 3.4L RWD motors pistons to 8.5:1 and end up with an overall 10:1 C/R or something then?
Interesting in the least. I'm just trying to consider my options and gether relative info from folks who know more than I. But I do appreciate it.

If you haven't already read this, some very good info about the 3.4
