Hey magnus,
I'm interested too. I am racking up a ton of miles with these 3.42s and low profile tires.

Also, I'd like to change the rev limiter when I do a cam and also get rid of the governer.

With my current setup I only work with 97+'s... its too much of a PITA for me to do pre 97's as GM does a gel coating over the PCM chips so its very difficult to remove.

Any idea how long it would take if i sent them my pcm, because this is my only mode of transportation. It would be nice to get rid of the speed/rev limiter, and fixed shift points, especially since I will be installing my 3.42s soon.

Magnus -I need the top speed limiter removed so I can use different gears with n2o without topping out at 75 mph. And the rev limiter wouldn't hurt while its out! If you could help me out that would be awesome man!!!

I would also like programming if its cheaper but if you do it wouldnt you be hacking codes? If zooomer does it he will actually be programming it through the pcm instead of removing the chip. I am not being an a** im just curious. And why were you saying you werent programming pcms and now all of a sudden when you see someone like zooomer is willing to help us you suddenly jump in saying you will do pcms, i mean that is real cool of you but why didnt you help us out before all this? How much will you charge and can you definately do a 97? Will you be able to raise the rev limiter, take the governer off adjust shift points for gear changes, can you add an input so when we hit the nitrous it lowers timing? Can you do anything about the knock recovery and kr issues with the programming? I will use the maft+ to mess with most of the timing and fuel, Is it possible for you to do anything so that we dont need the maft+ to adjust fuel and timing? Can you up the idle for those with an aftermarket cam? What all can you do? Thanks please respond.

Hey Magnus, If the gelcoating is holding you back from doing pre-97's, I'll take the computer out myself and remove the chip (carefully...of course). I'll then re-install it and send it to you.
Please let me know. I have a 96 3.8 with an M5, an it's in need of some umf <-pronounce it.

I wouldnt recommend removing the rev limiter, raising it yes but i really wouldnt remove it all together your just taking to much of a chance on over revving and kaboom :( Even with stiffer springs i wouldnt remove it all together raising it 5-700 rpm should be sufficient enough. Now that retarded governer he** yeah i would suggest removing that :D

I have been able to do PCM's for a long time.. I'm just letting you guys know about my progress.. I have recomended people to DHP already though.. And Zoomer doesn't do the programming, Dave Buckshaw does.. he's a very intelligent person.

They make the code changes the same way I do it.. they just have a different method of reading/writing the code. Mine is a lot more cost effective. ;) Because of this I can do it at a much lower cost.

I haven't looked for desired idle speed yet.. and I haven't worked with the 96 code much.. There is about as much code but its all compressed together where as the 97's have a chip doubled in size with more space between the code/data segments.

I highly recomend you NOT remove the chip from 96's and previous.. its a PITA and not worth the risk. You can find junk yard pcm's for under $100.. 97's will work in 96's no problem.

So basically I could get a PCM out of a 97 that had 3.42's and it should work fine? Or did any 97 v6's even come with stock 3.42s?

Before I knew how to program PCM's I bought a used 97 with 3.42 gear.. you could do the same for your 96. ;)

From a wrecker I'm assuming?
