I need to do something with my oil pump. And it is either buy a new one for $300 or a rebuild for $50...Have any of you ever done the rebuild?

I am thinking that a rebuild would be just seals and gaskets...thinking that rarely the gears in the pump would wear because they are under constant lubrication. I would call and ask about what you get with the rebuild kit. Rebuilding the pump shouldn't be a problem at all. That is my 2 cents.1995 Firebird 3.8 A4, 140,000 miles and going strong<br />Basically Stock, college=poor <p>Junior Mechanical Engineering Student: Milwaukee School of Engineering; Cpl, MN Army National Guard...just got promoted :)

You can always rebuild it, crank it over see if you get pressure and if it dont work then we could buy a new one. I also say go for a rebuild. I dont know how much cash you have but I damn sure know you aint no Baller. I think rebuild would be fine.
