I just made a recording of my exhaust and you can hear what I think is a lifter or two. Listen carefully for the clacking.... Its been there since I got the car, but I am not going to take the car apart just for that just yet to fix it...

I dont have a clue what you're talking about.
I think the exhaust sounds good. But I bet it gets a popping noise or something bad sounding during a shift.
I am afraid to say but when i had that noise i had collasped a hole bunch of lifters. Sounds exzactly the same.

I am not too worried. The car drives fine. I will replace them, but not until I do a cam. I am just worried that maybe the knock sensor is picking it up?

Its morelikely the fuel injectors, or an injector, making the noise. Its hard to hear in the clip (the magnaflow actually sounds good, wow) but I'd say this is more likely the case.
If it gets louder be worried. If you want to know if its a lifter, try changing out to a Valvoline oil like Maxlife or SynPower and see if it goes away for that oil change. Sounds corny I know but all my valve noise went byby with Valvoline. The Mobil1 10W-30 is a "thin" 30 when hot, the Valvoline is more midrange to thick, and it seems to quiet the valvetrain a lot more cold and hot. My car is more silent than some japanese cars idling right now running the stock exhaust!
My dad says it sounds like a lifter, but he says that roller lifters don't collapse to often. Maybe its cause he is old school. I will try to get a better clip of the lifter noise. IMO Its definately not an injector, I can hear those too. THey are more of a click than a clack if you know what i mean (I feel like the guy on the insurance commercial.. I makes a boom.... a kaboom... hehe) Put it this way, its loud enough to hear on the exhaust clip and the mic was right at the back bumper and the hood was closed. :mad:

Second, I hate pennzoil :D
But it could still be a lifter, hard to tell in the clip due to the exhaust sound. It might also be just a rocker making some noise - if it sounds really bad, its probably bad. If it sounds minor, treat it as such. [img]smile.gif[/img]

We do in fact have roller lifters.. its just hard to tell from the pics.. but trust me.. they are rollers. I have a set laying on the garage floor right now.
