2002 L36. i can't frickin find the *&%# tach signal wire  YES I'VE SEARCHED. i'm installing a raptor shiftlight.

i've tried pin #8 according to the 2000-2001 pinouts from the tech database, but that's not it. other ppl said (from searching) they used pin #54, but that's not it, also pin "E" on the ICM...but there is no pin "E" on my ICM, it's just an empty space.

according to haynes the signal wire is white, but i've tried every white wire coming off the pcm & still nothing. WTF?

the light turns on & verifies itself too, so it's not like the power/ground are screwed up. help plz!

My service manual only goes up to 2001, but according to the parts manual it should be the same. Pin #8 on the Clear (not Blue) PCM is Engine Speed Signal. It should be a White wire. You've obviously already tried that, but I'll keep looking for more info.

On the ICM: Pin C is Light Blue/Black, it's a "Medium Resolution Engine Speed Signal". Pin D is Purple/White: "Low Resolution Engine Speed Signal". Maybe one of those would work?

      Edit:
Low resolution engine speed (3x reference)--PCM input -- From the ignition control module, the PCM uses this signal to calculate engine RPM and crankshaft position above 1,200 RPM. The PCM also uses the pulses on this circuit to initiate injector operation.

Medium resolution engine speed signal (18X reference)-- PCM input -- The 18X reference signal is used to accurately control spark timing at low RPM and allow IC operation during cranking. Below 1,200 RPM, the PCM is monitoring the 18X reference signal and using the signal as the reference for ignition timing advance. When engine speed exceeds 1,200 RPM, the PCM begins using the 3X reference signal to control spark timing.

white wire in the blue or white connectors near the pass side kick pannel.

Pinouts are on my web page in V8 swap section.

it's not the white wire...they musta changed something for 2002, 'cause i tried all the white wires under the passanger kick panel & all white wires off the pcm..nadda.

98camaro3.8 thanks a bunch, i got it hooked up to the purple/white wire & it works just fine now...
