  • engine removal

    i got the motor still in my car.. the top half has ben removed. (intakes, cam, valvetrain, etc) can i pull this thing from the top or does it need to come out the bottom.

    also the motor is sezied so i can't remove the tranny. i think i'm going to try to pull it from the top with the tranny still atached.

    ive seen a few 4th gens with the motor removed via the top, as long as you have a cherry picker its not that dificult if you take your time to make sure you are pulling it out without snagging anything

      was that with or without the tranny attached. i have a picker and i have pulled motor before but this one looks like it's going to be a good size task

        you can pull it from the top with the trans still attached the engin is gonna be wayyyyyyy up in the air tho.

        Slacker69 pulled and intalled his engin this way.

        you probably will need a jack under the trans to help guide it out. Get an extra hand or 2 to help you.

          My engine was pulled through the top, but no tranny attached.

            if you got the top half of the morot removed, pull it fomr the TOP WAY EASIER with the tranny on

            i put mine in this way really easy, with the radatior and acc's out of the way

              i pulled the 3.4 out of my 95 through the top didnt use a cherry picker tho i used a fork lift look at my car domain site
