• 2000 PCM

i am reprogramming my PCM tomorrow and i can either do it as a 1999 or a 2000. ive heard of people who have done 2000 with no problems... anyone back this up? also in theory if my PCM was a 2000 i could use a HPP3 made for a 2000? thanks

edit: also... lets say i use slacker69s VIN, we could also then in theory share a HPP3 right? since it reads vins.

My 99 Firebird has 2000 programming, and it's worked just fine for two years now. I don't see any reason why you couldn't then use the Hypertech. As to whether you can share, well, try it and let us know.

yes and the 2000 programming is better than the 99 because of the hpp3 capabilities.

had it programed today with kris' 2000 VIN... ordering the HPP3, so well find out if it will work on kris' and my car since they now have the "same" VIN number

why not it only reads the vin nu,ber on the pcm when hooked up to the obd-II connection if it picks up my vin on both cars then there should be no problem

I don't see why the HPP3 wopuldn't work that way. Good thinking.

after talking to tiago matt and wes i dont think it will work. HPP3 sends a new program to the PCM that enables you to make changes. this can only be sent once. but the question/situation arises... what happens if you just happened to go to a delaership with a problem with your car and you have the HPP3 program loaded on to your car. the dealership decides that to fix whatever probelm by reflashing your PCM and therefore erasing the HPP3 program. you could then send the HPP3 back to hypertech and they will reload, for free, the program back on to it. so lets say hypothetically kris and i go in on a HPP3, i use it and get mine set where i want it. then "something happens to my car" and i take it to the dealership and they "reflash my PCM" therefore requiring me to send the HPP3 back to hypertech and have them reload it and therefore creating a new HPP3 program kris can use. this is all in theory and hypothetical... but sounds to me as if it will work. we shall find out.
