  • Which Springs with Rebuild

I have a 2000 3.8 Camaro, with 107K miles on it, so I have decided to install a cam and rebuild the valve train, and maybe the whole engine. So here is what I got, and what I plan on doing...

    My cam - 212/212 112LSA 109IC .520 Lift

I was planning to get the comp cam springs but should I get the 105 or the 130 lb? I am also entertaining other ideas for springs as well, if anyone wants to share thier opinions.

These are the other items I will be purchasing to go along with it since I am rebuilding my valve train.

Comp Cams "OE R Series" Hydraulic Roller Lifters
Comp Cams Valve spring Retainers Titanium
    INTENSE™ High-Performance Pushrods Liteweight
    Clevite 77® TriMetal™ Main Bearings
    Clevite 77® TriMetal™ Rod Bearings
Gasket Set (havent decided, but GM is my first choice)
All the bolts for the heads, crank, pully ext.

I am also entertaining putting in forged pistons, piston rings, but I dont know which ones to get, again I could used some help? I know they make a few different kinds, doomed, flat, and one other.

I also thought about new rocker arms, but with this cam, I dont know if they would work.

Any opinion or help would be useful since I am going to start purchasing stuff this week. If I forgot any major part, or something let me know.

    Thanks

    Chris

The CC 105lb springs should work. Just make sure the retainer doesn't make contact w/ the valve seal.

Well since I want to rev higher than 6000 rpm, it was suggested I go with a stiffer spring 130lb

People have revved past 6500 RPM on stock valve springs.

And with a cam with a decent amount of lift, valve float above 6000 is a HUGE concern..
