• MSD DIS-4 and Blaster Coilpacks Installed!

Stage 1 of my ignition upgrade is complete! I installed my DIS-4 and MSD coilpacks yesterday. Man, it took me all day. Talk about not being mechanically inclined! Absolutely no clearance with the CIUs and I had the bracket unhooked. Couldn't figure out a way to remove the wiring harness from the bracket, and I didn't want to break it, so I left it alone. It helped to be able to turn the bracket though.

Too early to tell, only drove 20 miles on rain slicked roads, but throttle response seems a little better. WOT power was coming so fast on those slick roads that I got scared and let off the gas. Power from a stop going up a slight incline was good too. This was with a reset computer, because I unhooked the negative battery cable.

Yes, I'm fully aware of the opinions of the DIS-4 on 3.8s. Maybe the coilpacks made the difference. :D So far, not noticing a conflict with the Jet Stage 2, and TPS-TEC. Can't wait to get the 8mm wires on and the new plugs in. I'm not doing it though, and I feel real sorry for my mechanic with those clearance issues. I'll update this post if I encounter any missing, knock, pre-detonation, etc.

Sorry so long. Gonna go do some more driving later.

Update:
Well, it's been about a month now since the install, and all I can say is that I'm extremely pleased. Filled up my tank, and drove 86 miles to the airport with some morning traffic jam delays, and my gas hand barely moved, no joke. Car is doing alot less downshifting when I try to speed up or pass. I attribute that to better throttle response, and less throttle input from me. Combustion process has to be better, and the jetchip adding more fuel has to be helping. All performance electronics are working in harmony. Couldn't be happier. Just hope the blaster coilpacks can take the summer heat. Also, I'm still running stock plugs and wires, and I have almost 73,000 miles on them. She runs like a dream!
