• Cam question

The compcams camshaft @ Grandprixstore.com is a Xtreme Energy Hydraulic Roller Camshaft...

Being it is hydraulric roller, does that mean it requires roller rockers?

I know it needs stiffer valve springs, the lift is on up there.

I have confidence in saying this camshaft with STOCK HEADS will provide a minimum of +25bhp for us, I just need some valvetrain information from you guys .

They hydraulic roller part is refering to the lifter... We have hydraulic roller lifters so you're alright.

The lifters are the things that make contact to the cam. The pushrods sit on top of the lifters. The cam lobe pushes up the lifter.. the lifter pushes the pushrod, the pushrod hits the rocker, the rocker tips and the valve opens.

heh thanks for the rundown, I wasnt sure if we had old style mechanical or new hydraulic

Didn't need the diagram but hey, it might help someone else ;) Thanks Magnus.

How hard would it be to change out our current setup to 1.6 roller rockers instead?

No, however compcams makes a cam, and tiago got/could have got a custom one from NRT, if I remember correctly.

Being that Tiago got the Nu-Tek package from James Montigny -- he didnt take the camshaft. he just got the heads/intake.

the camshaft is pretty mild. i mean its good for some gains but without the NRT heads it probably wont do much, its really custom ground to match their airflow profile.

              you should use roller rockers.
