• NA high reving v6

I think i might try to build my car to rev higher, does anyone have a high reving v6? This is what i want to do to make it rev high.
1-MSD igntion controler
2-valves
3-springs
4-ti retainers
5-berings
6-hardened pushrods
7-camshaft-so i can make power up high
I want the car to be able to rev to 7,500 is this an unrealistic goal, to get that high will i have to modifiy my crank, or and reduce the rotating mass? Just need some input.
Who has the highest reving 6 on this board?

You would need to use a lighter connecting rods like forged aluminum manely rods you would need titanium springs and retainers and a hardened lighten pushrod upgraded lifters for sure not to sure about the crank probalby hardened and knife edged. You would need to drill out three more oil holes in the intake vally as well as have heavy ported heads and a cam to match you desired shift points as well as a converter and gear set to match as well if you are a automatic

Getting it to rev higher probably shouldn't be a practical problem....lighten and balance all of the rotating assemblies and the valvetrain.

Remember, though, the faster you spin the motor, the shorter the life gets.

Not if you do it right, my friend has a crx that spins to 8,200 and we do it 5 times a day at least, he has 200,000 miles and is still going strong.

Here are a few steps I took on my new race engine to ensure that if needbe it would rev to at LEAST 7000RPM all day long. If it's actually going to make power that high is a completely different story.

-Balance the entire rotating assembly to 50%
-Remove the balance shaft after rotating assembly balance
-New bearings obviously, I recommend Clevite but thats up to you!
-Lighten the rods, I chose to be the guinea pig for the L32 rods, its up to you which you want to use.
-Comp Cams Chromoly Pushrods
-26-918X12 130lbs Valve Springs
-Titanium retainers are good from a weight savings
-Comp Cams 875-12 Lifters, these will be critical to avoid lifter pump up or bleed down at high RPM.

There are a few more but those are the relatively critical ones, the rest are common sense.

You would need valve springs and you're rev limiter reprogrammed.

Hmm, can the balance shaft be removed this way without any adverse effects? I know that is a popular one with some of the imports that have balance shafts (I think nissan uses them) but I thought that our engine was externally balanced?

It is but thats why you have all your internals balenced at a shop so the external balancer is taken out this is how the intense GTP does it and he runs 10.8 all day long

what kind of performance benefit are we talking about when remvoing the balace shaft? How would it affect daily driving?

you can't just move your rev limiter and rev past 7k rpm. The stock PCM only has programming till 7000, if you want higher, you will have to go with a stand along DFI system. FAST or something of that sort.
