You can move the rev limiter past 7000 in the stock PCM, well I shouldnt say YOU, but DHP can. There are actually two High RPM Drive Rev limits, one spark and one fuel. The spark is usually quite a bit higher than the fuel cutoff, HOWEVER the spark modifier table and SOME fueling tables (not 100% sure on the L36) end at 6500, so you could spin that high but the last spark value at 6500RPM would just carry up to whatever limit you use.

If you could make power to 6500 rpm there would be very large gain over stock. HP is a product of torque and rpm so if you can rev the motor high and support it with a good amount of torque then you are set. Valvetrain upgrades along with a new cam and ported and polished heads will give you serious gains.
