  • New Injectors on '00+ - New idea?

Ok, we know that with the Multec 2's there's no drop-in replacement. Here's my thought on a minimally invasive setup to upgrade the injectors in a safe manner without permanent changes.

    1. Get the Delphi FJ10471 (search for part #) 37 lb/hr injectors. These seem to be about the only other Multec 2 injector out there. Elecrical connection is the same, but we're moving from long to mini body style. Same ends, but ~20 mm shorter body

    2. ZZP Injector spacers. The 1" spacers are a bit longer than we need. So we need to raise the fuel rail by 5 mm to match. We just cut the fuel rail standoffs supplied by ZZP or add a few washers under each rail bracket to lift the bracket to match.

It's some extra money, but we avoid any cutting, bending, wire splicing, or other permanent mod of either the fuel rail or the injector wiring harness.

    Any feedback on this?

Holy crap, $110 for that spacer kit?

Haven't looked at it to see how easy it would be, but could you just lower the fuel rail instead?

Yeah, didn't say it was the cheapest option, but a possibility for someone who doesn't want to mess with the rail or harness.

I'll have to check and see if anything would interfere with lowering the fuel rail. Getting the car back from the body shop tomorrow. AFAIK, it's pretty open, just need to check in the back where the FPR is to make sure there's space. I'd prob fold over the mount brackets in a new spot and drill a new bolt hole.

That's exactly what I was thinking. At least that'd be a whole lot cheaper, assuming there's nothing in the way.

USD: yeah, you need another Multec 2 injector to reuse your harness plug.

ZZP and a couple other places also sell adapters or pigtails that you could plug or splice into the lines. You're looking at $60 for that and you might still need to mod the rail since nothing has the same height as our Multec 2 long's.

I dont think it could clear the brake booster vacume line would it?

thanks for the link. adapters on zzp's page says "will not work on l36 motor"

got any reasoning why they wouldnt work. they look like they will...
                thanks.

You'd have to call and ask - zzp compatibility claims can sometimes get screwy when it comes to the fbody, since there are some engine differences between us and the grand prix.

Yeah, most of the time their response is "I don't know we never tried them on a F-body."

And btw, those Delphi FJ10471 are $117 per injector here in Tampa.
