  • Help PLease!!

I just called my piece of S H I T mechanic about my car. He's had the damn thing for a month now.

I had a bunch of stuff installed and this what he talls me:

There is an eachust leach because the EGR something or other doesn't match up to the headers (pacesetters on a 3.8)

The car has a strange idle and stall sometimes (he put in the VS-Comp Cam also I have had the MAF screen removed for the last 6 years)

He put my Powerdyne SC back on and tells me the wires from it are corroaded and destroyed.

I am SO PISSED RIGHT NOW

I think you would be referring to the EGR Valve that mounts onto those headers. Sounds like mechanic error since I haven't heard of a problem with those heads in that aspect, but maybe I am wrong.

But the reason I am responding is because you mentioned that you removed the screen from your MAF. That is a bad idea. I am sure that so many people will disagree with me on this. The thing is that the screen is NECESSARY for the MAF to work correctly. It evens out the air flow so a correct reading of incoming air is achieved. Without the screen, you will have a hesitation when you get on the gas and the car may have a tendency to stall. I played around with the idea of removing the screen a while ago. With the screen removed, I had a hesitation off the line that lasted for 2 seconds. I had installed a air/fuel ratio gauge and I could watch the car stay in a lean condition for the 2 seconds until the computer 'caught up' with the correct reading. You see, with the screen removed, depending on your intake setup, a good percent of air would pass right by the resistors without actually cooling them off. That's why the screen is used. The car 'sees' that not enough air is in the mix so it leans out the car. The correction comes when it looks at the O2 sensor. It takes the computers a couple of seconds, because of programming, to compare the readings.
