I have been living here in japan for the last 23 months. I went home for 4 weeks this last summer and mostly worked on my Z28.
To get started look at as many things as you can. Look at bad 305 TBI truck moter castings and find out where there bad, Learn the bad heads and what makes them bad. Then look at good heads like LT1 and vortecs and ok heads like the 58cc 5.0L IROC heads like I have on my Z28 compair them to the bad heads. Then Check out ported versions of each if you can and see what people changed to make them flow more.
The push rods heads like in our v6 and the SBC are a lot alike by design.
Then if you can get a look at aftermarket heads and compair them all, go to some thing like a swap meet and look at heads.\'85 Z28, T-tops new LG4 and TH700
\'85 3.4L 5-speed
mods: http://www.cardomain.com/id/oil_pan_4 the nitrous exhaust O2 safety, pg 3.
Areo space materal engineer wantabe
