Id say as far as prices go your looking at somewhere between 3500-4500. NOT THAT bad...pretty much what a custom supercharger setup would be. A couple people have done this and from what ive HEARD its NOT all that hard as long as youve got the parts. Youll need the Engine,Computer,Wiring harness, engine cradle, guage cluster from a z28,fuel system, exhaust, and a couple other little odds and ends.2001 Black S10 Xtreme 4.3L A4
*RedLineVSix*
\"Throwin sparks, draggin frame\"

Go to www.hpsalvage.com Check ebay, I've seen some auctions where you can get everything for under 3 grand. 4500 is about as much as you would pay. I wouldn't pay that much. You might be able to find the engine for around 700. As far as the tranny goes, it's expensive. I'd say 1200 for the tranny. Everything else, expect to pay any where from 500 to a grand. Most places usually include everything though. You should also check www.tacreations.com , www.speedautomotive.com ,and do a search. There are other salvage yards, billy grahms is an other, that you'll find.1 of a kind
Red 97 Camaro
Modifications:
SLP CAI, RK Sport Headers, Car Sound High Flow Cat, 3\" piping
3\" Steel driveshaft, SFC\'s, Panhard Rod, MAC Torque Arm
Manual Fan Switch
Best E/T:
60\' 2.152
330 6.271
1/8th 9.704
MPH 71.93

One of the online junkyards (I think it is the F-Body one in Alabama) has LT1's and 6speed tranny for $1250. They only had 60K miles on them. It included wiring harness and computer as well.
RIP
1995 Chevrolet Camaro
3.4L V6 A4
Flowmaster 40 Series
K&N FIPK
Throttle Body Coolant Bypass
180 Degree Thermostat
3.42 Ring Gear
Steel One Piece Driveshaft
IAT Relocation
and a website http://www.geocities.com/jason_b298
New Ride 2000 S-10
4.3L V6 VIN W
auto
3.42 w/ LSD
more coming soon

Why does everyone want to swap the engine, anyone can have a z28, but to have a V6 that beats one is truly awesome. Your better of just buying a Z28 to begin with. Insurance you say? I can only imagine how happy they would be when they found a V8 in your wrecked (Supposed V6) camaro. They probably wouldn't cover you. Want to go fast on low insurance, get a motorcycle.1997 Chevrolet Camaro v6 - 13.8@104MPH

Why would insurance not cover you? They never ask if the car is a V8, they only go by VIN. No law that says you can't swap motors. I think the only rule is that it has to be of the same or newer year. Also, going with an LT1 opens up a whole 'nother world for mods. Modding a v6, atleast for now, has much more restrictve limits than that of a LT1.Matt
\'96 Camaro Z28 M6
\'96 Camaro M5

better yet go to www.autotrader.com, look for 93-97 camaro's and firebirds for under $3,000. iT Will find lots of fbody's that are wrecked and almost totalled but still running. It would be good because you would get the whole car and it would include EVERYTHING you needed.

I don't really reccommend this.. I think the entire project, and different suspensions and other things you would need to do this..it would just be cheaper to trade in and get a car with an already installed lt1.AIM: escalier deverre
\'02 Pearl Blue Metallic RSX-S (daily driver)
\'98 Black Firebird
98 V6 turbocharged to 02 LS1 swap
\'02 LS1/4L60E
LS6 Block, LS6 Intake Manifold, Thunder Racing 215/220 .600/.523/115 Cam, Titanium Retainers, Crane Double Valve Springs, 125 shot NX Wet Kit w/ NOS brand Purge, True Dual \"H\" Pipe w/ two chambers and dumps, 17x11(rear) and 17x9.5(front) Black Powdercoated ZR1 Replicas on 315 and 275 BFGoodrich Comp T/A\'s (Street)/ET Drags/Skinnies on Weldlites(Track), 3.42/LSD
