well yesterday i finally made the purchase of the ported upper and lower intake manifold from abbott. now i have everthing i think??? the point is a while back i made a post that the shop wanted $2700 for installing the parts{ported heads, manifold, gears, cam, and pushrods.) well today i read the hayne's manuel. to see maybe i will save money and intstall the parts myself. has anybody install these parts on their own.

wickededdsix did you beef up your transmission? how did your stock tranny do with the stage 3 heads, cam, and etc. -
Don't do the install just so you can save some money. If you don't know what you're doing, don't try it.
It's not terribly hard, but it's pretty in-depth and there's no room for error. If the only way you can do it is to read step by step through a Haynes manual with no other knowledge, it's probably not for you.
$2700 for the install????? Go back to that guy and kick him in the nuts. That sounds like a quote he gives to someone when he just doesn't want to do it himself.
Definitely do some searches here, install questions have been asked before.Matt

I went to several shops. the lowest was 2700 the rest is just jaw shocking. giving me the same excuse "well i never work on a camaro v6 before soo... this is custom work.." It took around two years to get where i am at.Comment

My old 5 speed had upgraded 1st, 2nd, and 5th gears but now I've got an automatic in the car that has been rebuilt with red alto clutches, shift kit, and an upgraded servo. If you're still going to be running on street tires, the tranny will be ok.
