• Waste spark ignition

I have noticed that my car makes alot more power when the waste spark system gets to running at like 3k rpm..

I can even almost hear a diffrence.

I was wondering if there was a way to make that kick in sooner w/o tuning..

    any ideas? or opinions?

      Seriosuly though..

I have seen gay-tec cars with "homo-tec" controlers that basicly allow it to kick in sooner.. I would imagine we could gain some healthy low end power by getting the waste spark stuff running sooner..

A spark during the exhaust stroke to burn any un-burnt fuel.

I believe the MSD DIS-4 enables the waste spark all the time.

behh.. i want to find a way to do it w/o mdis4...

there is probably a way.. but.. knowing our cars it will probably take tuning.. :(

Maybe it's a damn jumper wire somewhere? Find out if the ICM controls the waste spark, or if it's the PCM triggering the ICM after a certain RPM. Perhaps one of the many ICM Pins is a trigger wire.

how does the waste spark 'turn on' at 3000 rpm? both sides of the coilpack fire when its triggered. by design the one side of the coilpack is at its compression stroke and the other is on the exhaust stroke.

$339 USD at thunder racing. do you have to replace the coils/wires too?

any dyno numbers on this? that's a good chunk of change...

DIS-4 is proven worthless on a 3.8 by me.

                            its a 3.4 mod

I dont exactly know, Thats the issue..

From what I recall on the dyno I started seeing multiple sparks at somewhere around 2.5-3k rpm.
This is clear becuase all of a sudden my rpm's that the dyno registered exactly doubled what auto tap registerd.

So, The way i see it something triggers it to start that type of cycle..

                              any ideas keith?
