was looking at getting the stage 2+ powerpak kit from supersixmotorsports.com, was wanting to know if I should put new pistons and all in as well to make things more stable. My 96 3.8 has 206k on it is why I ask.

with that many miles, you minds just rebuild the whole thing and make it all fresh. You can get by without going the low end, but why not if you have it all apart already anyways with all those miles

well since I have never done any of this, it will be at a shop. I would appreciate any ideas or other posts on what all I should have ordered to begin the rebuild

ok....i am the person who posted the sticky on the head research for the 3.8. if ur looking for a specific kind of head (there are about 3 or 4 different main head ports that our vendors offer)then i suggest you READ IT. Not really paying attention to all the details but just to see which head flows the best, which has most velocity and which is most efficient.

With ur car having 206k miles on it I also suggest that you do a complete engine rebuild. At that mileage your piston rings are probably shot, the cylinder walls need to be honed and bored, ull need oversized pistons with connecting rods. Its up to you whether you wanna swap out the crankshaft or not. But once you get down that far ull be messin with the bearings and everything. The only thing you will probably not need to replace is the block itself.

The most economical and cheapest way to go about it is to use the 4 grand ull need for a 3.8 rebuild and put it towards an LS1 swap , which would probably cost you less anyways

But assuming u wanna stay with the 3.8 then use the above information as a guideline.
