4l60e and its capabilities?

i was just kinda doodling around on the internet today and i found out that there are absolutely NO sites that have any info whatsoever on our auto trans. i was just wondering if anyone knows exactly what kind of horsepower its capable of handling and since the v-8's use it, does that mean you can necessarily swap in an 8er and it will mate right up to the trans?

You're right in that the V8's use it, but there's a different bellhousing, so it won't bolt right up ... as far as performance aftermarket stuff ... http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4L60E.htm has a pleatyful supply of parts for the 4l60e. Happy Hunting !!

The v8 tranny has more discs in the clutch pack.

If you get one with a removeable bellhousing, and put a v6 bellhousing on it, you should be able to run it.
