The gt2 is actually designed to be optimized for stock heads. The lift is lower, matching the max flow lift of stock heads.
You can also easily run it on stock valvetrain.
The gt1 has higher lift, making it for ported heads, but less duration.
The gt2 has a higher duration than the gt1, also maximizing the stock head flow.

The gt2 can easily become more ported head friendly, by changing to a higher rocker ratio.

I had my GT2 cam in for about...8k miles or so before I sold it. Not one hiccup with the car.

It would only set the P0300 code if I was in traffic for a good while. Yes, I could feel it but not that bad. However, I had a 2800 stall in the car.
