You need a scan tool bro -- it will tell you which cylinder, and then you can specifically check the plug, wire, and coil on that cyl.
Got the wires on the right plugs? Got tons of knock? (but I doubt that would make it flash)97 Camaro 3.8L M5
Car for saleterpmotors.com Terrapin Motorsports! UMCP

A flashing SES light signifies a misfire. Misfires screw up emissions but not all causes of increased emissions are misfires.

If your sure you have a misfire and dont' want to spend the extra coin on a scanner, buy a sparkplug tester and a ohm meter. Its basically a spark plug with clip welded onto it. Use the ohm meter to check the resistence in the wires. Make sure they fall within the specs listed in a service manual. Then check each spark plug wire with the spark plug tester. Have a budy crank over the engine and watch for a spark. If your not getting a spark on one cylinder, you narrowed it down to either the coil or the Ignition control module. I would switch locations with the non firing coil with one that works. If the same coil is bad in a different location than the coil is bad. If the non firing coil fires in a different location, then the ICM is bad. Sounds like a bad coil to me. But your initial focus should be plugs, wires, and coils...Keith - 99 'maro - White M5 - bumpstick and boltons - 13.65 @ 101 N/A

A flashing ses light means that you have a misfire so bad that it is going to damage the catalytic converter...and that's all it means. The ohm meter check on the plug wires only works if the cable is physically broken inside the insulation.2005 Magnum
