• cam question for rice cooker...i think...

I beleive you are the one with the cam from tom...did you get a mild one or what? and is your ses light going off? and finaly, if it was going off what did you do to get around it? seeing as how there is no comp programer. Thanks.

yup, I got one from Tom. It's not mild by any means, but it's not radical... it's juuuuust right The specs are 210in/214ex 112 lsa .450/ .450 lift

The SES light is on, but it's one of those codes that doesn't affect performance or drivability. There are no idling problems and no drivability problems. You just ignore it and wait till someone can reprogram the computer.
Don't take this personally, it's just a comment on what I've seen here and there.... If setting off a light is gonna deter you from installing a mod, you're in the wrong hobby. I think Mike Huff put it best when he said, "if you're not setting of SES lights, you're not trying hard enough"

ROFL! Yeeeeeah baby! But seriously, I have basicly the same cam and I see a SES light once in a while. Mine are usually O2 sensor related. The cam is very streetable, you don't NEED a custom program to run it. A MAF Translator with a laptop will make the cam perform even better. I consider the cam close to radical, it's big for 231 cubes but Royce is right, it's just purrrrfect for the 3.8.

lol, the light doesnt effect me at all, when my cat was off it was on for a month solid, i just thought it WAS one of thoes codes that would effect performance. Now that i know it wont, MWMWHAWHAHAHAHAHA cough. thanks.

the cam i am getting from tom has
int:214
ext:220
lift:.5
l/s:114
those were his choice specs. i have no problem trusting tom, and i cant wait to see how it does. of coarse i am getting new springs along with everything else.
i do wonder how rough an idle i will get?

Awwwww yeah, can't wait to hear that big nasty cam in the 3.8 You will just LOVE that idle. Are you doing the install yourself or having a shop do it?

im sorry mike, forgot to get back to ya.
a shop is putting it in for me.
for installation of the power pack he told me $800-$900. i sent all my own parts to tom, so my car is out of commission till whenever they get back. :( tom told me 3 1/2 - 4 weeks. ouch.
i wish i had the time to do the install myself, but i've got 4 kids to feed and more mods to buy :D so i'm stuck with 2 full time jobs and no time to tinker on the car.

I'm not saying they're bad, they're just pretty big.
just trash the cat, and put a full 3" straight pipe. Get the little s-pipe in 3" also. That's what I did, and what a difference!

The CompCams cam is still my choice, especially since it isnt a regrind... and it has higher lift.

Is the SES light controlled by one bulb? Any easy way to disable it? I'd love to get a cam, but the SES light annoys the tar out of me when it pops on (only seen it once, and it was my own fault).

it's a little LED in the back of the cluster. i'm sure you could just take a hammer to it and punch it right out ;)

about the SES light, for those guys who drive with it on all the time.. how about tracing the wire and re-route it say in the ash tray or something like that, so you could still have it, if your car starts acting up you can check and see if you get a flashing (misfire condition) light or if it is still on steady. Anyway it's something that just came to me and thought I would share..

My SES light has been on so long it I would be lonely without it.

When my SES light goes off, then I worry.
