i'll attest to the noise, took me months to figure out what the feck it was. annoyed the living piss out of me.

If your car had been running rich for a long period of time you might get high hydrocarbon readings due to the fact thta the oil would have some gas in that got past the piston rings. The pcv valves picks up the fumes from the crankcase to be burnt in the cylinders and therefore you get high hydrocarbons (raw fuel)

ugh that guaranteed to pass sucks. we used it at the vette shop i worked at. the HCs and CO2 were high and NOX was fine. so we added this guaranteed to pass. we had to drive it a lot and run the tank dry so that the stuff can cycle through the system. once we did we refilled it and went to retest it. HCs were down, CO2 was same, and NOX was crazy high. so after all those miles on the customers car it was even worse. stupid smog.

I put a new egr valve on the beast and the nox numbers and hydrocarbon numbers went higher than they'd ever been but, I think driving it off a cliff while on fire may cure my emmissions problems.

hell try your 85 shot. its worth a try :D

I just want to see what the numbers are on a car that uses juice on the test lol

Did you put the egr valve on backwards??? It is possible. Did you test the egr system before you put a new egr valve on it.

Are you kidding me? Anything that goes into your motor affects emissions. They do emissions test in Chicago and I can't think of how many cars that failed because of old (or bad) oil.

The egr valve is on the right way cause of the way the solenoids sit and the way the connector lines up. This latest test was with a fresh oil change, filter and oil, specificaly for Jerriko cause what you said made sense.

Look at the last additive.
I have seen some of these additives work. I do emissions at my job every day.

But as far as failing by that much theres something wrong. My guess is egr isnt working or a bad cat.

Changing oil does not make that big of a difference. It might a little but if he's failing that bad its not gonna make him pass. EGR valve works because it reduces combustion chamber tempertures by sending exhaust back throught the intake manifold, when it does this there is less burnable oxygen in the chamber.

sorry for multiple posts but you might want to check for:

plugs/wires make sure its not missing
check for vacuum leaks
replace pcv
check O2 sensors

if all this is good then it could possibly be worn engine parts, like rings, valve seals and such burning oil. but check these first.
